Thermomix Puff Pastry Pinwheels Recipe

These Puff Pastry Pinwheels stuffed with olives are a luscious starter you can prepare with Thermomix! Quick and funny to prepare, they also looks very pretty on a dish.

The recipe and the picture have been sent by Fabiola Fiorillo from Montagano (CB) who wrote: "I found this recipe on a magazine some years ago and then I adapted it for Thermomix myself".

I've made this recipe using green olives and without adding thyme, because I had to give these pinwheels to my children too and I wanted them to be more appreciated by them who, you know, have always very "refined" tastes....in a certain way :-)

You can try making all the combinations you'd like the most, of course!

Kids love rolling out these puff pastry appetizers and you can shape them as you like. Hearts, spirals, alphabet letters etc. When they are cooked you can create some compositions with them using toothpicks and your imagination and place them at the centre of a table.

Send me the pictures of your own creations and I'll add them to the recipe!

Ingredients

4 people serving

- 1 Ready-to-cook Puff Pastry pack or 1 dose of Quick Puff Pastry with Thermomix
- 100 g Pitted Black Olives, or Green Olives if you prefer
- 1 Tomato (also peeled)
- 1 Onion
- 30 ml Olive Oil
- 1 Sprig Parsley, chopped
- 1 Sprig Thyme, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste

How to prepare the Thermomix Puff Pastry Pinwheels

Chop onion. 3 Sec. Speed 7.

Scrap down the sides and add olive oil, a hint of water and sauté. 3 Min. 100°C Speed 1.

Add tomato, salt and black pepper. 2 Min. 90°C Speed 1.

Add olives, parsley, thyme and blend. 5 Sec. Speed 7.

Let it get cold very well. In the meantime roll out the puff pastry with its own greaseproof paper on the work surface.

Use a fork to riddle with holes the dough.

Spread the dough with the cold mixture and roll the puff pastry dough from the two sides towards the centre to create two rolls one beside the other.

Cover with greaseproof paper and keep refrigerated for about 20 Min.

Pre-heat the oven at 200°C.

Cover an oven tray with greaseproof paper and spread with a little bit of oil.

Take the roll out of the oven, place it on your work surface and remove the greaseproof paper.

Cut the roll into 1 cm thick slices and place them on the oven tray.

Cook for about 10 Min. until they are golden.

Fabiola's advice

They are great if eaten warm, but cold they are also very good, they disappear in a flash! I prefer rolling the dough along the length side, there are more slices to cut even if of a smaller size!
