Chocolate and Pear Cake with Thermomix



The Chocolate and Pear Cake is an Italian classic! Pears and chocolate match perfectly and they are extraordinary together in a cake at the same time.

As this cake can be cooked in various ways, I wrote two recipes sent by two fans of www.ricette-bimby.com, the Italian version of www.thermomix-recipes.com.

The first one comes from Marzia Di Giulio from Giulianova - Teramo who says: " I had bought the chocolate and pear cake in a supermarket and from that moment I fell in love with it. I decided that I could do it with Thermomix :) I looked for a recipe on the internet and I adapted it for Thermomix adding some milk to make the dough softer (after the first test) and the vanillin. Moreover the original recipe included only 1/2 a baking powder sachet, but I usually put it all and the result is perfect!"

Ingredients


- 100 g Amaretti (Italian almond flavoured biscuits)
- 170 g Butter
- 1 Baking Powder Sachet
- 1 Vanillin Sachet (or 1 spoon Vanilla Sugar)
- Wine as needed
- 200 g Dark Chocolate
- 2-3 Pears
- 100 g Sugar
- 40 g Milk
- 200 g Flour
- 4 Eggs


for the topping
- Icing Sugar to taste


How to prepare the Chocolate and Pear Cake


Peel pears and cut them horizontally in thin slices.

Boil them with wine and add a little bit of sugar if you want them sweeter.

The pears must cook until the wine has evaporated almost all. When they are soft drain them and let them cool.

Whip egg-whites with Thermomix 3-5 Min. 37°C Speed 4.

Wash and dry the bowl.

Grind chocolate 10 Sec. Speed 8. Put aside.

Grind amaretti 10 Sec. Speed 8. Put aside.

Put the eggs, the butter and the sugar in the mixing bowl and mix 40 Sec. Speed 4.

Add chocolate. 40 Sec. Speed 4.

Add amaretti, the baking powder, the vanillin (or the vanilla sugar) and the flour. 40 Sec. Speed 4.

Add the egg-whites. 40 Sec. Speed 2-3.

Butter a baking pan or cover it with greaseproof paper (wet and squeezed), pour half of the mixture and place the pears until you cover the whole surface.

Pour the rest of the mixture on the pears and spread well.

Cook in pre-heated oven for 40 Min. 180°C.

Once it is ready, take it out of the oven and let it cool. Finally spread with icing sugar.

Ingredients


- 150 g Dark Chocolate
- 200 g Sugar
- 100 g Soft Butter
- 230 g Flour
- 70 g Potato Starch
- 120 g Yogurt
- 80 g Milk
- 3 Eggs
- 1 Baking Powder Sachet
- 1 Vanillin Sachet (or 1 spoon Vanilla Sugar)
- 2 Pears


How to prepare the Chocolate and Pear Cake


Grind chocolate. 10 Sec. Speed 5 to 8.

Add sugar, butter, yogurt, milk and eggs. 40 Sec. Speed 4.

Add flour and potato starch. 1 Min. Speed 5.

Add baking powder. 10 Sec. Speed 4.

Pour half of the mixture in a buttered baking pan (24 cm diameter) and put the peeled pears in slices on it. Then cover with the rest of the mixture.

Bake 40 Min. 170°C.
