Steamed Vegetables With Thermomix

Steamed vegetables
are the perfect choice when you don't have much time for cooking, and with Thermomix Varoma they cook really well!

I just came back from a trip to Egypt, where steamed veggies are served with most meals, although always a bit hard. I prefer them when they're soft, because I just find them much more appetizing.

And if you're wondering what's the difference between Steamed Vegetables and Boiled Vegetables, here it goes: steaming keeps all the nutrients in the vegetables without altering the flavour, because the direct contact with water is avoided.

I cook them very often because they are a perfect side dish for children :-)!

The key is to vary the vegetables!

What's more, they are very quick to prepare!

Ingredients

- 500 g water (you have to cover the blades)

Vegetables as desired:
- zucchini
- carrots
- french beans
- potatoes

To dress
- salt
- extra virgin olive oil as needed




How to prepare Steamed Vegetables

Pour 500 g water into the mixing bowl.

Peel the vegetables that you can peel or wash well those that you do not peel.

You decide the amount. The maximum is the capacity of the simmering basket plus the Varoma tray.

Cut the vegetables into pieces.

The line and shape are those that you prefer: smaller, larger, washers etc.

Put the vegetables in the simmering basket and put the basket in the mixing bowl.

You can also fill the Varoma tray with the vegetables and put it on the mixing bowl lid.

Cook 25 Min. Temp. Varoma Speed 1.

Dress with extra virgin olive oil and salt.


My advice

I recommend to check after 20 Min. Depends if you like the vegetables softer or harder and it depends also from the vegetables. Some vegetables need more time to cook, some others need less.

If desired, you could eat every day steamed vegetables. :-)

The key, of course, is to vary daily vegetables and season with a pinch of salt and plenty of Extra Virgin Olive Oil!

I also like to do a mix of different vegetables that becomes an elegant side dish for dinner.
