Sweet and Sour Bell Peppers with Thermomix

When you fancy a quick and appetising side dish it's time to prepare these Sweet and Sour Bell Peppers.

They're one of the most pleasant side dish to prepare, they are perfect to be served with grilled or roasted meat. The recipe has been sent by Elisa from Ferrara who has slightly changed the doses of the basic cookbook. There's more sugar, one garlic clove instead of two and the cooking time has increased by 5 minutes. And you? How do you prefer it? Do you also modify the recipe on the basic cookbook? Let me know!

The preparation is very simple: you just have to activate your Thermomix and put all the ingredients inside it without thinking about stirring or checking the cooking....Thermomix does everything :-)

Serving them you'll surely make a success. Moreover bell peppers are very healthy, they're rich in vitamin C, carotene and potassium.

If you're looking for other recipe to prepare bell peppers with Thermomix I suggest the classic Sicilian Peperonata, the Stuffed Bell Peppers, the Bacon and Peppers Pasta (very tasty one!) or the Peppers Rustic Cake.

- 1 Garlic Clove
- 50 g Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- 700 g Bell Peppers in different colours (yellow, red, green)
- 10 g Salt
- 30 g Sugar
- 40 g Balsamic Vinegar or Red Vinegar
- 40 g White Wine

How to prepare Sweet and Sour Bell Peppers

Put the garlic and the oil in the bowl and cook 3 Min. 100°C Speed 1.

Add peppers cut into pieces, salt, sugar, vinegar and wine and cook 20 Min. Temp. Varoma Reverse Speed Gentle Stirring.

Elisa's advice

If you want you can replace the balsamic vinegar with the red vinegar but you must increase the sugar dose or peppers will turn very sour.

My advice

They're perfect to be put in jars and preserve them in your cupboard or to give to your friends or relatives as a gift ;-)

PAY ATTENTION: Have a look at my suggestions about pickling as I wrote in the Pickled Aubergines recipe to avoid the botulism effect.
