Gluten intolerant? Here it is a coeliac friendly recipe! These Gluten-Free Chive Scones are very easy to prepare and delicious!
This recipe very original recipe has been sent by Krishna Ferguson from Hoppers Crossing, Melbourne and my friend Marianna, who is very good and helps me run thermomix-recipes, adapted it for Thermomix.
Scones are small British quick bread of Scottish origin. Scones are especially popular in the United Kingdom, the United States,Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, but are also eaten in many other countries.
British scones are often lightly sweetened, but may also be savoury, like this version here. When sweetened they frequently include raisins or currants and they are served with tea. Savoury varieties of scone may contain cheese, onion, bacon or a combinations of these.
Krishna's recipe contains dry mustard which is a seasoning that is found in the spice section of most grocery stores that sell regular wet mustards. Dry mustard (Keen's is a popular brand) may also be called ground mustard. It really does make a difference in the recipe generally speaking, but if you don't have it, it can be omitted without ruining the dish.
Krishna told me: "My mum used to make this recipe with normal wheat flour and I have just adapted it to be coeliac friendly. Every family gathering we have I am asked to bring these scones and they are always the first thing to be eaten. Everytime I make them I add something different and they are always delicious!"
She also suggests: "Great to have with soups, stews, or just with butter or dip on them".
This version is perfect if you can't take gluten because it contains a special flour which is gluten-free and you can easily find it in every organic food market or shop.
No more than 2 minutes with Thermomix and then 20 minutes of baking. So in less than 30 minutes you will prepare a mouth-watering quick bread!
