One Egg Chocolate Cake with Thermomix

The One Egg Chocolate Cake recipe is one of those recipe that all of us women love :-). A recipe that makes us eat chocolate without being terrified of the consequence on our figure!

Tasteful, obviously, with a whipped cream filling. A calorie bomb, but it could be perfect on the smartest occasions such as the New Year Eve or the Christmas Dinner! Rossella Orlandi from Atina (FR) is the authoress of this recipe and she uses the non dairy vegetable cream.

In a word, this cake is very versatile, very scented because of the orange zest and it can be even more scented just replacing "50 grams of flour with the same quantity of toasted and grinded hazelnuts or crumbled amaretti (Italian typical almond flavoured biscuits)".

Mmmmh what a delicacy! I bet your husband, your children or your parents will go crazy for it because it is very modifiable according to our needs and to our guests tastes.

And what about Cocoa Powder? It is the main ingredient of this cake. A full of properties ingredient.

The cocoa tree is native to Mexico and it was later introduced in Europe by Hernan Cortéz who during the "New World" conquest, tasted a beverage with this ingredient plus chilli pepper and maize flour. Cortéz immediately got the feeling that cocoa was a very high-value ingredient and he decided to bring it with him up to Spain. There some expert Dominican friars replaced chilli pepper with vanilla and sugar creating a sweet and tasteful beverage. Demand for this beverage led the Spanish to establish cocoa plantations in the Caribbean, in Trinidad and in Italy too.

Cocoa is widely used in cooking, it flavours a lot of meals. At first it is used in sweets. But in other countries, such as Mexico and Spain, cocoa is also involved in savoury foods.

Cocoa contains lots of starch and it can't be easily mixed: first it should be mixed it with a cold liquid (it could go lumpy if it was hold) or with sugar so that starch particles are separated or it can be added to various mixture after sifting it.

It contains a high fat substance called Theobromine, similar to caffein: for this reason, cocoa provides a high calorie intake, even if it contains less calories than its most famous derivative, chocolate.

Finally, cocoa is contraindicated to people who suffer from cholecystitis and oxalate renal calculi.
It can also cause digestive disorders and allergies.
