Strawberry Jam: Make It with Thermomix

Strawberry Jam: spread on bread with butter, it's a real delicacy for breakfast...When I was a child, the strawberry jam was my favourite one. I used to eat only this jam. Now I learned how to appreciate all of the flavours. I love Cherry Jam and the Plum one. But as a kid, I used to eat only that one.

You know when you stay in a hotel, you have those single-dose small jam jars for breakfast, don't you? I always picked the strawberry one. So strawberry jam is still one of my myths...talking about food!

But, we must say, strawberries are very expensive. And, for this reason you never find 100% fruit jam. With my Thermomix, I prepared a strawberry jam only with strawberries, sugar and lemon (and a little bit of vanilla sugar, just to be greedy :-P).

I bought organic strawberries from a direct farmer. The strawberries didn't undergo any type of treatment. Those fruits you don't need to wash before eating them. I washed them just a bit with water only, to avoid some dust, but actually there was no need to do it. :-)))

So I prepared a delicious jam with super natural strawberries. And I also saved money because I bought from a direct farmer!

With this recipe I got 3 jars. Well, it isn't a lot but I can't wait to eat my home-made strawberry jam!

You may use this strawberry jam as a filling for many cakes such as the Jam Tart, the Croissants or the Sweet Roll, either as a Cheesecake topping or to spread it on Pancakes.

Ingredienti

- 500 g Strawberries, washed, stems removed
- 350 g Sugar
- 50 g Vanilla Sugar
- 1/2 Lemon Juice

How to prepare the Strawberry Jam

Put all the ingredients in Thermomix bowl. 30 Min. 100°C Speed 1.

Then 40 Min. Temp. Varoma Speed 1. This step to the Varoma temperature makes jam thicker. The time depends on how much watery you want your jam. It depends on your strawberries too, on how much water they release!

When jam is still hot, pour it into sterilized glass jars and put them upside-down. When cold, place the jars in a cool place.

Daniele De Martinis's suggested ingredient

You may replace lemon juice with 1/2 a peeled lemon, taking off also the white part (in Italy we say "pelare al vivo").

Francesca D'Errico's suggestion for sterilizing

Pour jam in glass jars, close them and put them in a pot with water. Let boil for 1 hour. Let cool in the same pot with water and then, when you take them out of the water put them upside-down to vacuum package them.
