Whenever I buy raspberries I cannot avoid preparing a good batch of Thermomix Raspberry Jam! I think it is my favourite jam!
Although I usually prepare jams with every kind of fruit, the raspberry one is still the jam I make at least with doubled amount of fruit. :-)
Of course I love the other ones as well, the cherry jam, apricot jam, fig jam, strawberry jam, apple and strawberry jam, pear jam, peach and amaretti jam and plum jam.
I was very tired of buying it, I found it very expensive and there was not any brand that produced it as I like it. Then I found some suggestions about preparing Raspberry Jam on the official community forum, where CarolineW shared her experiment. I tried that too and I think I found my perfect raspberry jam! :-)
Then there is another recipe I collected over the Internet from the amazing blog Quirky Cooking by Jo.
You can also use frozen fruit when preparing jams, the water from the defrosting does not affect the cooking especially if you like a runnier jam. Anyway, you can cook your jam on Varoma for some minutes after finishing the normal process, to let it thicken until your desired consistency.
I always use my Raspberry Jam to fill in Jam Biscuits or Jam Tarts, and I also used it to make a delicious batch of Dairy and Egg Free Coconut Biscuits and a lovely Milk-Free Sweet Roll.
However I simply love spreading it on toasted bread and butter too :-P I am very fond of it especially for breakfast. What about you? How do you use raspberry jam? :-) Send me your recipes and I'll be very glad to publish them :)
Recipe 1
thanks to CarolineW for her suggestions on ForumThermomix.com
Ingredients
- 500 g Raspberries- 500 g Sugar
(equal amount of fruit and sugar, also 200 and 200 would do)
How to prepare Thermomix Raspberry Jam
Add raspberries and sugar in TM bowl. Cook 20 Min. 100°C Speed 2.If you want a thicker jam then cook other 7 Min. Varoma Temp. Speed 3.
Recipe 2
Jo's recipe of strawberry jam; here I use raspberries instead of strawberries.
Ingredients
- 500 g Raspberries- 150-200 g Rapadura (or other sweetener)
- 1 level teaspoon Agar-Agar Powder
How to prepare Thermomix Raspberry Jam
Place fruit in Thermomix bowl and chop roughly for 3-5 Sec. Speed 4 depending how chunky you want it.Add rapadura and agar-agar and cook. 8 Min. 100°C Speed 2 Reverse.
Test if the jam is set by placing 1/2 tsp of jam onto the cold saucer. When it is cool, push it with your finger. If the jam wrinkles, it's ready. If not, add a pinch more agar-agar, cook for another 2 Min. then re-test.
When jam is set, pour into 2 hot rinsed jars with twist-off lids and close immediately. Turn jars upside down for 10 Min. Your jam will keep in the fridge for up to one month.
Jo's advice
If you prefer your jam smooth and un-chunky, cook without the reverse, and puree on Speed 8 when you're done. Before you begin, place a saucer into the freezer for testing the jam on. Wash out your jam jars thoroughly with warm soapy water and rinse well. Set aside.
